How to Convert PDF Pages to Images

By Abid · August 19, 2026

Sometimes a PDF is the wrong shape for where it needs to go. A slide deck wants a picture, not an attachment. A social post can't embed a document. A form field accepts images only. The PDF to Image Converter renders each page as a PNG you can use anywhere an image works.

Why not just take a screenshot

Because a screenshot captures your screen, not the page. You get whatever resolution your monitor happens to be, cropped to whatever was visible, with the reader's toolbar sometimes along the top. Printed or projected, it looks soft. A proper conversion renders the page itself at full resolution, with nothing around the edges that shouldn't be there.

How to convert the pages

Open the tool and choose your PDF. Each page is rendered as a separate PNG, ready to download and use individually. A one-page document gives you one image; a ten-page document gives you ten.

PNG is the right format here. It keeps text edges crisp, which is what you want for a page that's mostly writing - a JPEG at the same size would soften them and add faint smudges around the letters.

What you give up

The result is a picture of the page, so the text in it is no longer text. It can't be selected, copied, searched or edited, and a screen reader can't read it. That's fine when you want a visual, and wrong when someone needs the words. If what you actually want is the writing, use the PDF Text Extractor instead.

Choosing where to use the result

A page image behaves like any other picture, which makes it easy to place and easy to misuse. In a slide deck it is ideal - you want the page to look exactly as it does, and nobody is going to edit it. On a web page it is usually the wrong choice, because the text is invisible to search engines and unreadable to anyone using a screen reader.

Size matters too. A rendered page is a large image, and dropping several into a document or a post will make it slow to load. If the result is heading somewhere size-sensitive, it is worth reducing it before use rather than after someone complains.

Common questions

Can I turn the images back into a PDF afterwards?

Yes, with the Image to PDF tool - though you'll get a document made of pictures, without the selectable text the original had.

Will scanned pages convert too?

Yes. A scanned page is already an image inside the PDF, so it converts as readily as any other page.

Can I convert only one page?

The tool renders every page as its own file, so you simply use the one you want. To work with a single page as a document, split it out first with the Split PDF tool.

Why is my converted page blurry?

Usually because the page was a low-resolution scan to begin with. Conversion renders what is in the file; it cannot add detail that was never captured.
