The tools and information on AskATool are provided for general use. We work hard to make every tool correct, but results should be checked before you rely on them for anything that matters.

Calculators give estimates

Many of our tools are calculators, and a calculator is only ever as good as the formula behind it and the numbers you put in. Standard formulas are simplifications. They do not know your particular circumstances, and two reputable sources will sometimes give different answers for the same question.

Health and fitness tools are not medical advice

Our BMI, body fat, calorie, macro, heart rate, ovulation, pregnancy and alcohol tools are general-purpose estimators. They are not a diagnosis, not a treatment plan, and no substitute for a doctor, midwife, dietitian or other qualified professional. Do not use them to make decisions about medication, pregnancy, training or anything else affecting your health without speaking to someone qualified.

Our blood alcohol estimator deserves a particular warning: blood alcohol depends on factors no calculator can know, and a low estimate is never a reason to drive. If you have been drinking, do not drive.

Financial tools are not financial advice

Loan, mortgage, interest, tax, retirement and business calculators on this site are illustrations. They do not account for fees, local tax rules, changing rates, or your own situation. Before making a financial decision, check the figures with your lender, accountant or a qualified adviser.

Accuracy and availability

We do not guarantee that the tools on this site are free of errors, available without interruption, or suitable for any particular purpose. If you find something wrong, please tell us through the Contact page — it is the fastest way for it to get fixed.

Your files and your results

Our tools run in your own browser, so your files are not uploaded to us. That also means you are responsible for keeping your own copies. Always keep the original of anything important before converting, compressing or editing it.
