When You Need to Duplicate a Page in a PDF
Needing the same page several times in one document is more common than it sounds. A form that has to be filled in once per person. A worksheet a class works through five times. A cover sheet that belongs at the front of each section of a submission. The Duplicate PDF Pages tool repeats a page without rebuilding anything.
Where this comes up
Multi-copy forms are the usual case - a single-page timesheet or consent form that you need twenty of, as one printable document rather than twenty separate print jobs. Teachers hit the same thing with exercise sheets. And anyone assembling a multi-part submission often needs the same divider or declaration page repeated between the parts.
The alternative is printing the page twenty times by hand, or merging twenty copies of a one-page file together, both of which work and neither of which is a good use of your afternoon.
How to duplicate a page
Open the tool and choose your PDF. Pick which page to duplicate and how many copies to add, then download the updated document.
The copies go in next to the original, so a document where the duplicated page needs to appear at intervals rather than in a block will need reordering afterwards. The PDF Page Reorder tool handles that, and it's much faster than trying to get the positions right in one pass.
Before you print twenty copies
Check the first one. A duplicated page is identical to the original including anything already written on it, so if the page you copied has a name or date filled in, every copy carries it too. Duplicate the blank version, not the completed one.
Duplicating before filling in, not after
The order matters more than it looks. Duplicate the blank version of a form and you get twenty identical blanks to fill in separately. Duplicate one you have already completed and you get twenty copies of the same answers, which is almost never what anyone wants.
This catches people with forms that have been partly completed - a header filled in, the rest left blank. Check what is already on the page before you make twenty of it.
If the copies need to be separated by other pages rather than sitting in a block, duplicate first and then move them into place with the PDF Page Reorder tool. Trying to get both right in one step is harder than doing them in sequence.
Common questions
Can I duplicate more than one page?
The tool works on one page at a time. For a block of pages, extract them with the Split PDF tool and merge that file in as many times as you need.
Does it change the original page?
No. The original stays where it is and the copies are added alongside it.
Does duplicating increase the file size?
Yes, roughly in proportion to how heavy the duplicated page is. A page of text adds very little; a scanned page adds its full weight each time.
Can I duplicate a page into a different document?
Not directly. Extract it with the Split PDF tool, then merge that file into the other document as many times as you need.
