Frequently Asked Questions
Is this just removing the colour?
It is a little smarter than that. Each pixel is weighted by how bright that colour actually looks to the eye (red 29.9%, green 58.7%, blue 11.4%), which gives a far more natural result than simply averaging the three channels.
Can I undo it?
Not within the tool — converting to grayscale discards the colour information. Your original file is untouched, so keep it if you might want the colour version back.
